Southern Roots
Matthew Sparks hails all the way from the tip of South Texas. Born in the city of McAllen, Matthew has been dancing since the age of 7. Long before his formal training began, Matthew would perform all of his older sister's dance routines in the kitchen, complete with her tutus and ballet slippers. Soon enough, his parents got the hint and enrolled him in his first dance class at Melba's School of Dance. Little did they know the genuine love for performing that their son would develop. He studied at Melba's all through his childhood for 11 years, cultivating his love for the arts and dance.
OKCU Grad
Matthew graduated summa cum laude from Oklahoma City University's renowned Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment. He received his Bachelor of Performing Arts in Dance Performance in May 2018. There he studied jazz, tap, ballet, voice, and acting, in addition to many technical and academic courses, such as Anatomy and Physiology, Dance Pedagogy, Choreography Theory, and Contracts and Management. He was named the most promising Dance Performance senior in his class.
Tokyo, Japan
Matthew worked in Tokyo, Japan, for nearly two years as a dancer and aerialist at Tokyo Disney Resort. He loved sharing his passion across the globe and was grateful for every day spent performing with Tokyo Disney.
Disney Cruise Line
Matthew is currently a mainstage performer and aerialist at Disney Cruise Line. He loves creating magic at sea while traveling all over the world. When he is on land, Matthew resides in New York City. He gives many thanks to his family, mentors, and professors for their unending love and encouragement.
